WARNING

• Never allow passengers to sit or ride in the cargo area of the Subaru Ascent, especially on folded rear seatbacks. This practice is extremely dangerous and can result in serious injury in the event of sudden braking or a collision.
• Do not stack luggage or cargo higher than the top of the seatbacks in your Subaru Ascent. Items positioned too high can easily shift forward during abrupt stops or accidents and may cause injury. Always place cargo as low as possible and keep it close to the floor for maximum stability.

WARNING

• Whenever transporting items inside the Subaru Ascent, secure them properly to prevent movement. Unsecured cargo may be thrown around inside the cabin during sudden maneuvers, posing a risk to all occupants.

Installing a roof tent on the Subaru Ascent increases the overall weight positioned above the vehicle’s center of gravity, which can negatively influence handling, braking efficiency, and rollover resistance. Under no circumstances should the Subaru Ascent be driven if the total load on the roof rails exceeds 176 lbs (80 kg).

CAUTION

• The higher stationary load capacity of 700 lbs (317 kg) applies only when the Subaru Ascent is parked on level ground, the load is evenly distributed across the roof (left to right and front to rear), and both the roof crossbars and roof tent are securely fastened. If any of these conditions are not met, the permissible load must be reduced accordingly.
• The maximum load rating of the roof crossbars should always be verified with the manufacturer or retailer. When driving the Subaru Ascent, the effective roof load must not exceed 176 lbs (80 kg) or the crossbar rating—whichever is lower.

Using a roof tent on the Subaru Ascent is possible only under specific conditions and always at the owner's responsibility. Proper installation and strict adherence to load limits are essential for safe operation.

When driving the vehicle

The combined weight of all roof-mounted components—including roof crossbars and the roof tent—must remain below 176 lbs (80 kg) and be evenly distributed across the roof rails of the Subaru Ascent.
