Start here with a new or unfamiliar Ascent

Driver-assistance systems: learn the limits first

EyeSight, blind-spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, reverse automatic braking and Driver Monitoring can be genuinely useful, but an alert is not a diagnosis and an intervention is not guaranteed. Before changing settings, identify which systems the vehicle actually has and read the conditions that can make them unavailable.

Plan a trip, load or trailer

Work in this order: confirm the tire placard and payload, secure the cabin load, check hitch and trailer ratings, then account for passengers and tongue weight. A maximum cargo-volume figure does not replace a weight limit.

Build a simple maintenance routine

Use the schedule for timing and the individual procedure pages for checks you can safely perform. Keep service records, note tire rotations and investigate a fluid-level change rather than repeatedly topping it up without finding the cause.
