Yes. Current U.S. Ascents use standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. Torque distribution is automatic; there is no “2WD mode.” AWD improves the ability to put power down, but tires and speed still determine much of the available grip. See AWD driving tips.

X-MODE coordinates throttle, transmission, AWD, stability control and individual-wheel braking for low-speed, low-traction conditions. It is a recovery and control tool, not a permanent drive setting. Higher trims may include dual-function modes. Read X-MODE operation and limits.

AWD vehicles are sensitive to tire-circumference differences. Match size, construction and preferably model and wear across all four positions. If one tire is damaged, measure tread depth and follow the replacement guidance rather than assuming one new tire is harmless. See Tires and wheels.

Use the fuel grade specified for your model year on the fuel door and in the owner’s manual. Do not infer a requirement solely because the engine is turbocharged. Where the manual recommends a higher octane for towing or high-load operation, follow that recommendation.

The current headline maximum is 5,000 lb when properly equipped. Some configurations are rated lower. Verify the exact vehicle, hitch, trailer brakes, tongue weight and loading in Trailer towing; never use the marketing maximum as the only calculation.

Passengers, cabin cargo, accessories and trailer tongue weight all consume the payload allowance shown on the vehicle label. A trailer can be below the tow rating while the vehicle is over payload or an axle rating. Weigh the loaded combination, not the empty trailer.

No. The complete setup may include the approved hitch, correct ball mount, safety chains, wiring, trailer brakes and a compatible brake controller, plus mirrors and load distribution appropriate to the trailer. The manual defines thresholds and prohibitions.

Roof-rail, crossbar and attachment limits are separate, and the weight of the hardware counts. A dynamic driving limit is not permission to place the same load on any glass roof or unsupported panel. Check Loading your vehicle and the accessory instructions.

Use the schedule for the vehicle’s model year, market and operating conditions. Repeated short trips, dust, severe cold, towing and frequent idling may change what “normal” service means. Begin at Maintenance schedule and keep dated records.

Park level, follow the specified warm-up or wait time, remove and wipe the dipstick, reseat it fully, then read again. Do not overfill. A repeatable level change deserves investigation; topping up is not a diagnosis. See Engine oil.

Use the driver-door tire placard and check when the tires are cold. The pressure molded into the sidewall is not the vehicle target. A cold-weather TPMS alert may reflect a real seasonal pressure drop even if the tire looks normal.

Physical fit is only one requirement. Capacity, terminal layout, venting and vehicle electrical demands must match the specification. After replacement, some windows, displays or learned functions may require initialization. Read Battery precautions.

Yes. During the first 1,000 miles, avoid one constant engine speed for long periods, abrupt acceleration except in an emergency and other high-load use identified by Subaru. Follow the break-in guidance.

Camera visibility, glare, condensation, extreme temperature, a dirty windshield or another fault can suspend functions. Clear only safe, accessible obstructions and allow normal defogging. If the message remains after conditions normalize, follow the warning text and arrange inspection.

No. Adaptive cruise, lane assistance and pre-collision functions support an attentive driver; they do not transfer responsibility. Keep control of steering, speed and spacing, and be ready to brake regardless of a system indicator.

RAB responds only under defined speeds and detection conditions. Object shape, surface, angle, weather, sensor contamination and driver input can change intervention. Check the status display and RAB limitations.

Note the exact symbol, color, whether it flashes and any message or change in vehicle behavior. Red warnings generally demand more immediate action than advisory indicators. Do not guess by color alone—use the warning-light index.

No. The stitched image can distort distance and has areas it cannot show. Check mirrors, windows and surroundings directly. Use Surround View Monitor to learn the view modes and blind areas.

Both. Seven-seat versions use two second-row captain’s chairs; eight-seat versions use a bench. The right choice depends on child-seat installation, the need for a center second-row position and how often someone reaches the third row.

The 2027 model publishes up to 75.6 cu ft with rear rows folded, but the most useful measurement is behind the raised third row. Test your own stroller or luggage and secure it below the seatbacks. Volume does not replace payload.

A memorized opening height may be active, or the system may have detected resistance. Review the height-memory procedure, clear the area and never force the powered gate against the drive. See Rear gate.

Confirm Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are enabled, remove stale pairings from both phone and vehicle if necessary, then register again while parked. Connection priority and compatibility vary by phone and model year. A known-good cable is useful for isolating the problem.

No. The owner’s manual covers operation, routine checks, warnings and specifications for drivers. A workshop service manual contains diagnostic and repair procedures. SUASCENT’s service-manual section is planned but not yet published.

Only after confirming that the controls, equipment and instructions match. The Ascent received meaningful technology and styling updates during its first generation; screen menus and available systems can differ even when the mechanical concept is similar.

Use the vehicle identification number with Subaru’s official recall lookup or the relevant national safety authority. A general model article cannot determine whether a particular VIN is included or whether the repair was completed.
