Subaru Ascent 2018-2026 Owner's Manual: Surround View Monitor

The Subaru Ascent is equipped with a Surround View Monitor system that provides a comprehensive visual overview of the vehicle’s surroundings. This system displays real-time camera images on the center information display, helping the driver monitor blind spots and improve situational awareness.

It can be used to observe the front area while driving or starting off, the rear area when reversing, and the entire perimeter when parking the Subaru Ascent.

WARNING

  • Never rely solely on the Surround View Monitor when operating the Subaru Ascent. The displayed image may differ from actual conditions.

Always visually check the surroundings directly and use mirrors in addition to the monitor to avoid accidents.

  • Avoid using the Surround View Monitor in the following conditions:
    • Driving on rough, snowy, or unpaved roads.
    • If any camera component is damaged or malfunctioning.

(e.g., lens or mounting bracket issues).

    • When the outside mirrors of the Subaru Ascent are folded.
    • If any front door is not completely closed.
  • At low temperatures, the display image may become darker or less responsive. Moving objects may appear distorted or temporarily disappear, so always remain alert when driving the Subaru Ascent.

NOTE

If a malfunction occurs in the Surround View Monitor system, an error message will appear on the display. Refer to the center information display troubleshooting section for further guidance.
