Subaru Ascent 2018-2026 Owner's Manual: Power folding mirror switch

Subaru Ascent power folding mirror control switch on driver door panel

In the Subaru Ascent, the power folding mirror switch allows convenient control of the exterior mirrors, and it functions only when the ignition switch is in the "ON" or "ACC" position.

To fold the outside mirrors inward, press the power folding mirror switch once. To return the mirrors to their normal driving position, press the switch again. This feature is especially useful when parking in tight spaces or navigating narrow areas with the Subaru Ascent.

NOTE

  • If the outside mirrors of the Subaru Ascent have been manually adjusted (folded or unfolded), they may automatically reposition when the ignition is switched from "LOCK/OFF" to "ACC" or "ON", depending on the current status of the power folding mirror switch.
  • If the mirrors have been manually pushed slightly beyond their normal unfolded position, they may move further forward automatically when the Subaru Ascent is powered on. In such cases, press the power folding mirror switch to reset their position. The mirrors will extend fully, then return to the correct operating angle. Press the switch again if needed to complete the unfolding process.
  • If the mirrors are unfolded manually, they may feel loose or unstable. To ensure proper alignment and stability in the Subaru Ascent, always use the power folding mirror switch for final positioning. If instability remains, fold the mirrors fully using the switch and then unfold them again electronically.
  • In cold weather conditions, the outside mirrors of the Subaru Ascent may temporarily stop moving during operation. If this occurs, press the switch again. If they still do not respond, gently move them manually several times to restore normal operation before using the switch again.
  • Continuous or repeated operation of the power folding mirror switch may temporarily disable the system. This is a normal protective function and not a malfunction.

Wait briefly before operating the switch again to allow the system to reset.

Power folding door mirror function (if equipped)

The Subaru Ascent is equipped with an automatic folding feature that enhances convenience during vehicle locking and unlocking. When the power folding mirror switch is set to the unfolded position, the mirrors will automatically fold inward when the ignition is turned OFF and the doors are locked.

Conversely, the mirrors will automatically return to their normal position when the doors are unlocked, ensuring that the Subaru Ascent is ready for driving without requiring manual adjustment.

NOTE

  • This automatic folding function will not operate if the power folding mirror switch is not in the correct position for mirror unfolding.
  • The automatic folding behavior of the mirrors in the Subaru Ascent can be customized through the center information display settings.

For additional configuration options, refer to the "Car settings" section or consult an authorized SUBARU dealer.

Dealer assistance is recommended for precise adjustment of system behavior.

The power folding mirror system in the Subaru Ascent is designed to provide both convenience and protection, helping reduce the risk of mirror damage in confined spaces while ensuring effortless operation through intelligent control and automatic functions.
