WARNING
When operating the moonroof in your Subaru Ascent, never allow any part of a person’s body—such as hands, arms, or head—or any external objects to extend outside the opening. This safety precaution is critical, as serious injury may occur under various driving conditions.
- During sudden braking, occupants or objects may be thrown forward unexpectedly.
- While making sharp turns, body positioning may shift dangerously toward the opening.
- In the event of a collision, exposed body parts may be subjected to severe impact forces.
- Objects or body parts extending beyond the Subaru Ascent could come into
contact with external obstacles, posing a high risk of injury.
To minimize the risk of serious injury caused by entrapment or external impact, always follow these essential safety guidelines without exception when using the Subaru Ascent moonroof system.
- Before closing the moonroof, carefully ensure that no hands, arms, head, or objects are within the closing path of the glass panel.
- Always take the key with you when exiting the Subaru Ascent, and never leave a child unattended inside the vehicle. Improper operation of the moonroof by a child can result in serious injury.
- Do not attempt to test the anti-entrapment function by intentionally placing any part of your body in the moonroof opening.
CAUTION
- Avoid sitting or placing weight on the edge of the open moonroof, as this may damage the mechanism or cause injury.
- Do not operate the Subaru Ascent moonroof if it is frozen shut due to snow, ice, or extremely low temperatures.
- Be aware that the anti-entrapment function is inactive when lowering the moonroof from the tilted position. Always confirm it is safe before performing this action.
- If the moonroof fails to close properly, have your Subaru Ascent inspected by an authorized SUBARU dealer as soon as possible.
The Subaru Ascent moonroof is designed with both tilting and sliding capabilities, offering enhanced ventilation and comfort for passengers.
For proper operation, the moonroof system in the Subaru Ascent functions only when the ignition switch is set to the "ON" position.
Sunshade switch

- Open
- Close
To automatically open or close the sunshade in your Subaru Ascent, slide and briefly hold the switch toward the desired direction, then release it to activate the automatic movement.
If you wish to stop the sunshade midway, simply slide the switch in either direction again to interrupt the motion.
Moonroof switch
Tilting moonroof

To tilt the moonroof upward or return it to the closed position in the Subaru Ascent, press the designated moonroof switch.
If the sunshade is closed beyond the halfway point when the switch is activated, it will automatically retract to a half-open position for improved usability.
NOTE
Always release the switch once the moonroof has reached its fully opened or closed position. Continuous operation may lead to unnecessary wear or potential damage to the Subaru Ascent moonroof mechanism.
Sliding moonroof

- Open
- Close
To open the moonroof: In the Subaru Ascent, slide and hold the moonroof switch toward the open position. The glass panel will move back and pause slightly before reaching the fully open position to help minimize wind noise and cabin turbulence.
To fully open the moonroof, slide the switch once again in the same direction.
To close the moonroof: Slide and hold the switch toward the close position. The moonroof will close and temporarily stop at the tilt-up position.
To completely close the moonroof, repeat the action by sliding and holding the switch again.
To stop the moonroof at any intermediate position, slide the switch in either direction.
NOTE
- After washing your Subaru Ascent or following rainfall, always wipe away excess water from the roof before opening the moonroof to prevent water droplets from entering the cabin.
- For optimal safety and comfort, it is advisable to avoid driving with the Subaru Ascent moonroof fully open, especially at higher speeds.
Anti-entrapment function
The Subaru Ascent moonroof is equipped with an advanced anti-entrapment safety system. If a significant object is detected between the glass panel and the roof frame during closing, the system will automatically reverse the moonroof to the fully open position and stop operation. Additionally, strong impacts or vibrations may trigger this feature even if no object is present.
CAUTION
Never attempt to test the anti-entrapment system using fingers, hands, or any part of your body under any circumstances.
Additional note: Regular inspection and proper operation of the Subaru Ascent moonroof system will ensure long-term reliability, safety, and maximum driving comfort in all weather conditions.
