NOTE
- After user recognition is completed, if the Driver Monitoring System in the Subaru Ascent is turned OFF, the system will remember this ON/OFF state for that specific user profile.
- Even when the system is set to OFF, the Subaru Ascent may temporarily
activate the Driver Monitoring System when the driver's door is opened and closed
while the vehicle is stationary. This occurs only if user recognition is enabled.
The system will then automatically return to the OFF state afterward.
- If the Driver Monitoring System is turned ON while the driver’s door is open, user recognition may not function correctly in the Subaru Ascent.
To turn on/off the Driver Monitoring System
The Driver Monitoring System in the Subaru Ascent can be activated or deactivated through the center information display. Refer to "Car settings" for step-by-step instructions.
When the system is turned OFF, the corresponding OFF indicator will illuminate on the combination meter display (color LCD), clearly informing the driver that monitoring is disabled.
NOTE
Disabling the Driver Monitoring System does not automatically affect other features such as user recognition or the automatic seat retraction function in the Subaru Ascent.
User recognition settings
The user recognition feature of the Subaru Ascent Driver Monitoring System can be turned ON or OFF through the center information display. Refer to "Car settings" for details.
NOTE
- The user recognition setting applies globally and cannot be configured individually for each registered user.
- By default, the user recognition function in the Subaru Ascent is enabled.
- When user recognition is turned OFF, the following functions become
unavailable:
- Repeat Facial Scan
- Register User
- Update Seat and Mirror Position
- Delete Driver Position
Automatically retract seat on entry
The Subaru Ascent features an automatic seat retraction function that moves the driver’s seat backward when the driver’s door is unlocked and opened, making it easier to enter or exit the vehicle.
This feature can be enabled or disabled via the center information display settings.
CAUTION
Wait until the seat has completely moved backward before sitting down in the Subaru Ascent.
Failure to do so may result in injury due to unexpected seat movement.
NOTE
- If the seat position is not stored in the access key fob memory, the automatic seat retraction feature remains available in the Subaru Ascent.
- Even if this function is enabled, it will automatically deactivate when the user recognition feature is turned OFF.
- This feature cannot be selected when the Driver Monitoring System OFF indicator, temporary stop indicator, or warning light is illuminated.
- The function operates only when the seat is positioned forward of the center point of its sliding range.
