Subaru Ascent 2018-2026 Owner's Manual: Keyless access with push-button start system

The Subaru Ascent may also be equipped with an advanced keyless access system featuring push-button start, enhancing both convenience and security.

The Subaru Ascent keyless access system enables the following functions when carrying the access key fob:

  • Locking and unlocking doors, rear gate, and fuel filler lid without removing the key from your pocket
  • Starting and stopping the engine using the push-button ignition system
  • Activating and deactivating the vehicle's security alarm system

NOTE

  • Remote locking and unlocking can also be performed using the buttons on the Subaru Ascent access key fob.
  • Always store the key number plate separately from the vehicle, as it is required for programming additional key fobs or performing repairs.

Each Subaru Ascent access key fob includes a built-in emergency key for backup use.

To remove the emergency key from the Subaru Ascent key fob, press the release button and pull the key out carefully.

The emergency key can be used for essential manual operations, including:

  • Locking and unlocking the driver's door when the key fob battery is depleted
  • Securing or accessing the glove box when necessary

NOTE

The glove box of the Subaru Ascent can remain securely locked when leaving the vehicle at a valet service, even if the access key fob is handed over with the emergency key removed.
